Gulf Coast Oil Spill Claims
GULF COAST OIL SPILL INJURY and LOSS OF BUSINESS CLAIMS – APRIL 2010The Gulf Coast Oil Rig Explosion which occurred on April 20, 2010 is a catastrophic event that also caused an oil spill from a BP offshore drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico. From the reports so far, it appears that approximately 11 people perished in the explosion and roughly 100 oil rig workers were potentially injured. Once the rig burned beyond recognition - it cratered into the ocean. To pour salt in the wound of this horrific situation, it appears that oil pipes on the ocean floor erupted shooting raw crude oil into the Gulf of Mexico. Because the companies were not properly prepared for such a catastrophic event - the spewing holes could not be contained and oil has since reached the shoreline starting Friday, April 30th. The leak is currently releasing 5,000 barrels of oil per day. (The Coast Guard estimates that about 200,000 gallons of oil are spreading out each day since the April 20 explosion). This oil spill is on track to become the worst oil spill in history, surpassing the damage done by the Exxon Valdez tanker that spilled 11 million gallons of oil into the ecologically sensitive Prince William Sound in 1989.
